Thorns or roses

Weekend update…

Weekend update, AKA the clogs are turning behind the scenes!

It seems to be all go this week! In case you missed it, there’s been new poetry – Fire for life , as well as here – What if? .

The What if? also helped to announce the latest photography project called ‘What do you see?’ If you click on the link to the post you can see two of the images created so far.

There’s been more photography shared, and you can catch up with this through the blog, the photography page of this website, or on the Facebook page.

I’ve been drawing again too, and these can be seen here –  There’s a hero in all of us! and Unicorn love! .

The Facebook page is all go, with lots more photo albums and images added, plus notes to help the ordering process. On here I’ve added a price page, as well as notes on the different types of image finishes to the ordering page.

No slowing down yet however, as the photography section is being revamped! This is to make it easier for everyone to view the images. So far there’s a completed page for just the rose themed images. Simply hoover over the photography tab to see this option.

Hope you are all having a great weekend, and for now whilst things are ticking and turning, here’s a new image –

Unicorn love!

Anyone else left with that ‘Where did the weekend go?’ feeling? If so, you’re not alone, as it seems to have flown by too quickly here!

This weekend I have been working on a unicorn design hand drawn with pencils and pens. Here’s the result –

I’ve also been busy with product photography for another independent business, Bespoke Fantasy Costumes this week. New photos have been completed for their latest range of 3D printed items, including fishing snag ears. A couple more edits still to go to show off the full range.

Back to the unicorns, and in the theme of the latest art work, here’s a throw back to other unicorn images I’ve also completed –

Hope you’ve had a great weekend, even if it’s gone quickly!

Bank holiday weekend coffee share!

A three day weekend, so maybe there’s time after all to catch up this weekend!

There was sun spotted today, so this share might be outside, trying to chase away the clouds from the rest of the area!

I would ask about your plans for this weekend, and want to listen to all the exciting things that you have planned. New places to see, new memories to be made. I’d listen to how your week has been, stuck between Easter and this bank holiday, this week seems to have flown by, as has April.

This week I’ve started a new mini photography project, and by started I mean I’ve not taken a single snap of the project yet! Too much to prepare first, and if I’m honest the clicking sound that I admire, probably won’t come until near the end of the project. Something to get my teeth into though.

There’s been new photography of birds, and still more photos waiting to be shared. The photography section on this site has been updated, some tweaks to the Facebook page, and a price list created for all those photography prints.

During sips of something sweet, I would let you know that my current mood is that good, that I’m choosing to not to react to those fixing their car. The little ones are happy, and that’s half the battle. If they are happy and there’s no world war three over (Add some insignificant inanimate object here) then I’m happy too.

What’s the one thing you didn’t want to do this week? Mine has been physiotherapy exercises. They suck. They hurt, and they fully highlight how ‘normal’ the strength and range of movement in my leg is not right now. But they are very much needed. A determination to beat the angle measurements next week, means continuing on.

That has led to a little grumble, which, I don’t even feel to be the right person to say. But, I have much more admiration this week for those that do have illnesses, accidents or disabilities that restrict their movements on a longer basis than my own. Some experiences have been easier than I imagined, others, well, let’s just say the U.K can do more to help give access to all places and shops to everyone. The very skinny paths that you can’t use, to the shops that have access for all, only to pile up each side of the entrance with their products, making for small aisles into the store. To those people who don’t, can’t or won’t give space to those requiring additional help to move around, or even allowing them to sit.

To end on a happy note, I would ask about what you have planned for next week, what’s got you excited? Are you surprised that we are less than 48 hours away from May? I know I am!

Go enjoy that cooled beverage, and hopefully see you the other side with more snaps!

Friday, is that you….

Wow this week seems to have flown by here, doesn’t seem like two minutes since I posted about Monday motivation!

We’ve made it through somehow, and now just about to start enjoying a three day weekend (here in the U.K at least!).

Hoping you all have a great weekend, and here’s a new image to see in the weekend :

The oxymoron week – Weekend coffee share.

I would pre warn you that this week, for me at least (and the business) has been an oxymoron kind of week.

My warning will probably be before we even reach our drink destination, so to not drag up the joy and anguish by surprise. The sun has been shining at last, maybe even an outside seat could be in order. After how this week has presented highs, lows and some considering thinking, a cake is in order too. Calories and sugar don’t count in time of crisis and of pondering.

I would ask if you and your family are ok. I would hope that you were not affected by those events in London this week. That I would explain this is why there has been a lack of posts this week, trying to show some respect to the event and those involved. Briefly touching upon my own work, that hours before the events unfolded, there I was ready to post new photography and poetry too. Badly timed, or something else, it was my first piece of political themed poetry. That and the decayed rose petals seemed insignificant, even distasteful after the tragic news broke.

This would not be a rant about religions or the person or persons behind it. My main concern would be those affected. If my two pence was ever wanted or asked for, I would say that this event, killings, murders are not acceptable, nor needed for any religion, ethnicity, gender or country. There is never an excuse for what happened, and so horribly I can now only predict that this could result in further, maybe unnecessary restrictions and assumptions. These by the political knee jerks to the event, to also those tarring all those with the same religion, race, or skin colour with the same brush. This event was unthinkable, life changing for those involved and affected. Not just London, but no country, no humans should lose their lives or have them affected in this manner, ever.

I would hope that the conversation didn’t get too deep, too soon, and I would listen to your views too with an open mind. It was the above that led to the delays in sharing the new stuff, because it didn’t seem important at the time. A mouth full of cake, to sweeten the mood, and I would welcome you to share your new products and developments from this week.

If you asked about mine, there is one poem already mentioned, ready to post at a later date now. There’s another poem, almost song lyric like nearly finished about being invisible. New photography of rose petals. On the Facebook page Rose-Sky Journey Pieces Facebook page (external link) there’s been new doodle art shared, as well as the start of the latest craft project. So far three hours have gone into something, which, looks to be a week to complete.

Finally on to tomorrow, Mothering Sunday for us here in the U.K. A date, which whilst filled with joy and appreciation, I believe just the same as Valentine’s and Father’s Day that the acts shouldn’t just be undertaken or shown on just one day a year. To the mothers, foster mothers, adopted mothers, step mothers, grandmothers, aunties, mother-in-laws and ‘just like a mum’, thank you to you all for the role you’ve played for bringing children into the children, and helping to raise them. To the father’s who are also mum and dad, kudos to you too. To all those wherever you are, however you do it, that help to care, to bring the best out in children all over the world, you are appreciated, needed, wanted, loved and thanked. If you are celebrating tomorrow, I hope that you have a lovely day, there might even be a flower or two as well!

It would only be right to ask about your own family traditions about these special days, and anything you have planned either for yourself, or for those you love.

The cake is going down well, in fact too well! It’s not flattened the sugar craving, but at least it’s subdued for now.

I thank you for listening to the rant, the thoughts, pondering, and updates. I wish you, and everyone else a safe week to come. To be blessed and grateful to be alive, to be here in the present, and to be the best you that you could be.

‘Live the life you love, love the life you live.’

For now,

Rose-Sky Journey Pieces. x

#Weekendcoffeeshare The countdown

Our chat would begin by showing you pictures of this –

I would hope for some flicker of recognition for what these images mean. Wishing you don’t think I’ve gone mad as I describe the story of how the Elf ended up in our home, how the children found it, what they’ve named it. Please have patience whilst I get excited, and also unload about where the Elf has been so far, where it plans to go, and oh the tantrums over it already caused.

We would go anywhere for a hot drink, as it’s too cold to be sat outside here now. My choice of tipple would be a chai latte, or perhaps something with ginger after the non-alcoholic giggles drink I’ve attempted from Holland and Barratt this week. I would relish in telling you that I got an entire bottle free just because. Then I would ask about your bargain finds this week.

There would be the slightly dreaded count down word mentioned, as it draws nearer to the season of glitter. Hoping to hear some tips from you about how to save over Christmas, bargain buys, and ways to make the million or so Christmas tasks seem smaller.

My eyes would look tired from another week of school runs, travelling, and general hen pecking to ensure everything gets done. Smiling, but still tired, the two weeks of antibiotics still seem to be lingering in that body somewhere causing havoc. I would let you eat the biscuits or anything crunchy, and only once I promise moan about my tooth extraction. You know, the one that didn’t go to plan, that nearly got my sinuses, and now has dry socket. Because it’s just me, right?

I would ask about your week. What excitement you’ve had, what inspiration you’ve found for your blog, your craft, your passion.

A second drink is always needed, heck, maybe some soft cake too if I avoid that mine hole left behind. In between the rants and off loadings of a mum, I would tell you it’s still all worth it. Every second. From every ‘I love you’ to the surprise notes, the cuddles, the reading. The Christmas spirit and belief in everything magical, everything pure and simple, it’s rubbing off on me already. Before Father Christmas even comes down the chimney, I think we’ll have another visit from the tooth fairy again as well.

I would thank you for listening to my ramblings, and promise to do this again soon.

How’s your weekend? What excitement have you had this week? What’s brought both frustration and joy in your home?

We’ll do this again soon,

Rose-Sky Journey Pieces.

A day of three’s.

A little shuffling, tweaking, and uploading has been going on this weekend, so here’s what you can now look forward to on our site..

Firstly, there was a great response yesterday to the two blog posts – Incy Wincy Spider and Excess of H20! (You can click on the blog post titles here to read the full blog and see the images.) So thank you everyone for the response so far!

Next, some tweaking on the site. A slideshow gallery has been added to the Home page , and the main header image has been updated on Photography . There’s some new sneak peek images on Crafty makes on the go! so you can see what I’m currently trying to make.

Off-site there’s been tweaking with the Facebook page (Rose-Sky Journey Pieces) with a new profile image, and new images uploaded. Twitter (rsjourneypiece) hasn’t been forgotten either with new tweets and images.

Finally, onto the photography images added to the site over the weekend. I’ve been playing around with reflections, and trying to make ordinary objects look more arty. Here’s the results below :

Hopefully your weekend has been as productive, and as fun as ours!
