Everyone has something that makes them happy, a talent, a skill. That’s what makes us all different. Well, mine is the roses! I love almost all photography and the chance to get the camera out, but I most certainly have a soft spot for nature photography, flowers, and of course roses!
If we were sharing coffee, I would tell you that I need two, maybe three cups. Heck, maybe even an espresso. A lack of sleep, lots of ideas, and perhaps too much time spent photographing and editing this week (Is that even possible!)
I would ask you how your week has been, and where your skills have taken you this week. I would try to hold in the yawns as I realise that extra sleep is less editing time, when there’s still a household to keep ship shape. Then I would ask you about your thoughts on the Underwater photography winners this year, and more controversially the World Press Photo Contest winner. I would be open to thoughts, as the later has left me with mixed opinions. A defining moment, real life, stark, bold and scary. But should it be portrayed as the best? With so much hatred already in the world, should this glimpse of a harsh reality in action be what we turn to? Maybe, I might feel more comfortable with an image of peace making, life changing, positivity amongst the thorns. But it invokes an emotional response, portrays it clearly, so some would say it has achieved it’s goal.
I would ask you for any new baking recipes, to try steer the talk away from my insistent photography talking. I love a good cake recipe that’s easy to make, even with the kids involved. Then we could smile over the slightly warmer weather, with no frost or ice in sight this week where I am!
We would both know that I couldn’t resist a new photo share, so would have to show you what I’ve edited this week, and try to not gush as it goes back to my love of nature and flower photography. I would want to listen to your passions, to see what that very thing is that makes you spark, in the same way roses do it for me.
Then, after a break, a caffeine fix, it would be time to get back to manning (or womaning?) that family ship again. Somehow, this ship might be a bit more at ease once the school term starts again after the weekend!
Hope you’re all having a great weekend, and would love to read your Weekendcoffeeshare ideas too!
Whenever you’re lonely, just look at the spaces between your fingers, and remember that’s where my fingers fit perfectly.

What better time to start the spring cleaning process than in the month named after the purification ritual performed by Romans…..
Including the usual trying to make the house look more spacious that occurs periodically with having children, this website has also had a bit of a dust off too!
We hope you like the new design and lay out, and all the previous posts and photography can still be found here as well.
This week I have started a mini project on hands. Inspired by my children, who were originally trying to use the scanner on the printer to get pictures of their hands… Time to let the scanner have a rest, and meet these requests myself!
If you’ve been watching our social media sites, our Etsy shop is now live, and we are also trialling a shop app within our Facebook page. Of course, you can still contact us and order through this website, or by e-mail directly. We’ve also signed up as a designer on Vida, with two designs currently live for bespoke scarves, perfect for unique gifts.
There is going to be more exciting news this week, so watch this space for new product information, and competition entries!
For now, here is a sneak peek at the start of our mini hands photography project –
It’s the thoughts in the middle of the night, it’s the overwhelming desire to do everything right. Solitude is the place that no one wants to admit that they know, the place we don’t admit to wanting to go.
What could I do to make this right, to give the children the best start in life? What will become of their futures and dreams, could they be affected by the current laws, retypes, and government teams?
Will they still receive the best education, the healthcare, the rights of a woman? Will they know where to turn, that when we failed, we were still trying our best and letting both ends of the candle burn?
These are the hands that held a new born, that changed nappies before dawn. The solitude of the night feeds, the cuddles that no one else sees. The ‘mummy’ sentences that only get said in house, because grown they have too much to say it outside aloud.
The hands that signed the consent forms, that wiped tears from eyes. Fingers that typed looking for answers to know what to do. The signs of age starting to show, not on my face, but on my hands well. The chipped nail varnish where the cleaning came first, the cooking, the hand holding, the early morning starts.
The solitude in unison, for every parent will know this feeling. The oxymoron of going through parenthood trying your best, wondering what if. When indeed there’s thousands, millions out there, going through the same thing. The question may be different, but when it’s trying to protect your offspring, to help them shine, then it’s all really the same thing… Solitude in unison, it’s a parent thing.

In response to the Photo Challenge : Unison from February 2017.
It feels like only two minutes ago was the New Year, and now we’re already bounced into February!
Whilst it’s still chilly, the month gets warmed up with Valentines day, roses, hearts and more! Named after the Roman spring cleaning festival Februa, it’s also National Pet Dental Care month in USA, as well as Hot Breakfast month! This year on the 6th February will be 65 years since Elizabeth II became the queen of Great Britain.
So perhaps there is a reason to smile through the frost and cold of this month after all….
I’ve been busy again with more photographic shots and editing, and as it’s now the month of love, what better time to share the latest rose photography image.
There’s more photography images to come soon, as well as the continuing large project of a macro scale (Nothing like sliding an oxymoron in there too!)
In the meanwhile, if you would like to see more of what random arty things I get up to, please feel free to view the photography, art and other pages on this website. You can also sign up as a WordPress follower, or by e-mail to get updates to when we’re blogging. Just like any other great plug, we can also be found on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and by e-mail!
Any questions, requests, or orders, please get in touch with us directly,
Thank you and enjoy February!

Life is a journey. A journey made up of several experiences, steps and pieces along the way, not one. Each piece is as important as the last and the next, each one tells a story, to express, to give, to keep. Creating art, photography, crafty gifts with poetry and ramblings along the way!
